Hunter and Morgan’s wedding at Dexter’s Inn in Sunapee, New Hampshire was one of those weddings that reminded me exactly why I still love doing this after all these years.
The day could not have been more perfect. Blue skies, sunshine, comfortable temperatures, and one of the most beautiful settings you could ask for. Dexter’s Inn is surrounded by gorgeous New Hampshire scenery, and everything about the property created a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere from the moment guests arrived.
The staff was incredible throughout the entire day. Maria, the owner, was welcoming and accommodating, making sure everything flowed smoothly. Jen and Kaitie wore several hats as both coordinators and bartenders, and they absolutely brought the energy. They were smiling, laughing, dancing behind the bar, and genuinely having fun with the guests. That kind of enthusiasm is contagious, and it helped create an atmosphere where everyone felt comfortable enough to let loose and enjoy themselves.
Perspective Catering was equally fantastic to work alongside. They served a delicious buffet featuring fresh salads, chicken, beef, potatoes, asparagus, and squash. The food was outstanding, the buffet remained well stocked all evening, and guests never had to worry about waiting long for another helping.
Cocktail hour was exactly what every couple hopes for. Instead of guests standing around waiting for the reception to begin, the entire property came alive. Volleyball, cornhole, ladder ball, horseshoes, frisbee golf, and plenty of space for people to mingle gave everyone something to enjoy. Laughter carried across the grounds while music filled the entire area from my battery-powered speaker setup, creating the perfect soundtrack without anyone missing a moment.
When it was time for the reception, guests gathered beneath a beautifully decorated tent that felt warm, elegant, and inviting. Hunter and Morgan added some fun personal touches, including a unique card holder and a giant Jenga game where guests could sign pieces as a lasting keepsake from the day.
One thing became obvious very quickly. This crowd came ready to celebrate.
From the very first songs, the dance floor stayed packed. Every change in tempo, every transition, every style of music was met with another wave of energy. The guests trusted me completely, and together we built an incredible flow that carried from one moment to the next without slowing down. By the end of the night, they weren’t ready for it to end. The chants of “One more song!” echoed throughout the tent, and there was no way I could say no.
One of my favorite moments happened when I played “I’m Too Sexy” by Right Said Fred. Almost instantly, the guests formed two lines on opposite sides of the dance floor and created an impromptu runway. One by one, everyone strutted down the middle with their own hilarious walk, while the rest of the crowd cheered them on. It was one of those completely unplanned moments that became an instant highlight.
Truthfully, though, it wasn’t just one moment that made this wedding special. The entire evening felt that way.
The speeches and toasts perfectly reflected Hunter and Morgan. They were heartfelt, emotional, funny, and entertaining all at the same time. You could tell how deeply loved they are by everyone in that room.
What makes everything even more impressive is that Hunter and Morgan planned the entire wedding themselves. Pulling off a day that seamless is no small accomplishment, and they absolutely nailed it. Everything felt effortless, allowing everyone, including the couple, to simply enjoy the celebration.
As I packed up at the end of the night and made the drive home, I couldn’t stop smiling. Those are the weddings that stay with you. Every guest experienced that day to its fullest, and you could genuinely feel the happiness from beginning to end.
I am incredibly grateful that Hunter and Morgan trusted me to be part of such an amazing celebration. If I could press replay and DJ that exact wedding all over again tomorrow, I wouldn’t hesitate for a second.
